Paul Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

Paul asks…

Should I buy an OtterBox case for my future iPad 2?

Hey. So I am going to buy an iPad 2 in a few months and I want to know if I should buy an OtterBox case for the iPad. I want to buy the Case and at the same time I don’t want to. I want to buy a case because I have this iPod touch 4g and it fell just once and the screen broke. I had to pay 100 bucks to get it fixed plus 30 bucks of the case. I don’t want to buy a case because iPad 2 just looks so cool and thin on your hands. So does like iPad 2 fall from your hands easily?

Please give me a reasonable and thoughtful response of why I should or shouldn’t buy a case.

Thank you.

Griffin Survivor, Otterbox, Lifeproof, Or Apple Smart Case??!! Help!!!?

Hey Yahoo I was wondering which case is better for the iPad. I’m getting an iPad for my birthday and using it throughout high school and I’m putting a lot if money into this so I need a good case because of the investment. Money isn’t that big of a deal. I just want a good all around not THAT bulky but you know. Thanks!!!!

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

First off, don’t get the survivor. I had it, couldn’t even put it on my ipad 4. The camera flap was very annoying and is very easy to come off, same with the headphone flap. The otterbox looks like poo and doesn’t protect any more than the survivor. Lifeproof is only good because its waterproof, but who takes an ipad underwater. I got the smart case today and its not bad its thin but if your life will end if you drop your ipad go with griffin if not get the smart case

Michael Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

Michael asks…

The iPad 2 is coming out in 2 days, and I’m unsure if I should get black, or white?

Okaay, I asked this already, but I’m gonna need more opinions, please! *** READ DESCRIPTION BELOW!***

The Apple iPad 2 is coming out on March 11th, in 2 days, and I’m not sure if I should get the black color, or white color. The black is more classy, but white is kind of unique, since the iPad didn’t have white (I think!). Also, I heard that white will turn yellow over time. Is that true? I don’t think that the stuff they make the iPad 2 with will yellow… but just asking. Also, just some background info, I’m getting the GREEN Polyurethane SmartCover, so obviously it’s gotta match good. Please give me your opinion, and a reason. Thanks! (=

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

Both black and white are neutral colors, so either one will go with a green cover. Someone said if you’re a boy get black and if you’re a girl get white. IMO that’s silly. I for once am a girl and I’d rather get the black one because at least with the iPhone what I read the white one shows streaks and scuff marks more easily. And you will get those on there eventually, even with cover.

And even though you didn’t ask that, but I highly recommend that you get yourself a silicone skin – hey choose a green one if you can find one, then it’d even mach with the cover! Though instead of the cover I’d even suggest getting an Otterbox case for maximum protection, but they don’t have them for the iPad 2 yet, so at least that gives you some time to save up for and the silicone skin plus cover should protect it decently for the time being.

If you haven’t bought your iPad 2 yet, I highly recommend you check out igaddadeal.com, I got mine for less than $400!

Maria Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

Maria asks…

What to do about dropped iPad 2?

I was at a party and my friends friend dropped my iPad 2 onto concrete. It had been less than a week since I got it (I got it for Christmas, it was dropped on New Years eve). The corners are dented and there are a few small scratches on the screen. The way the corners are dented causes the screen to be pushed up in the corner. I’m afraid that it might be weak in the corners now and I was wondering if there is anything I can do. I don’t think the damage is bad enough to be fixed (it’s barely noticeable). Is there anything I can do, or do I just have to live with a dented iPad?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

If were my iPad, my friend would be paying to put it in the condition it was in before it ws dropped, but then my friends are like that, without me having to say anything. So allow your friend to be a stand up sort of person and ask them how they want to handle getting your device repaired

Also if it were mine, and the party was not at my house, it never would have gotten dropped.

Renters or home owners insurance should cover getting it fixed and an Otterbox case should help in keeping it safe from drops even on concerete.

Otherwise live with it, and hope that it does not get damaged more from future drops. Also you future warranty may now be void, because even if there is a waranty problem later, it may be blamed on the abuse (physical damage) caused by it having been dropped, even if the problem isn’t related.

Richard Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

Richard asks…

Help?!? Im really paranoid of my ipad screen cracking?! (10 points)?

Well i own a 4th gen ipod touch, no cracks or anything, main reason is because my sister got me a otterbox commuter, but since it got my ipad 2 for xmas i have gotten really paranoid about it dropping, ive seen many people dropped theirs and it does look pretty horrible when the screens all broken, right now i have a iPad 2 Swivel Case, and today im planning to buy a full body set of ghost armor, but still it gets me very paranoid of it dropping, will my case and screen proctector be enough to protect it from cracked screens?

Get an Otterbox for it. They sell a Defender series for it if you’re that worried about breaking it. It’s almost $100 for the Otterbox though.

Did i buy a stolen ipad off craigslist?

Alright so i bought an ipad 2 from craigslist.. and it came with a otterbox case and he said the case is really hard to open up but i finally opened it up when i got home. i noticed the back engraved part is scratched out… everything else is in alright condition but the engraved part just looks terrible.. im not sure if he stole the ipad. the guy had alot of tattoos… and just looked kinda weird. not saying tattoos are bad because i have some myself.. but i have a feeling this ipad is stolen.. i texted him saying why the back was scratched out and he said because he wanted to hide his personal information… and he actually went out and got a 100$ worth of ipad stuff just to give it to me. and also is asking if i want a camera for free.. What should i do?
kind of seems sketchy to me.. but what would you do? should i suggest a refund? because i told him i dont want it to look like i stole an ipad..

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

Something about this doesn’t click. First is, why would he offer you a free camera ? Does he feel guilty about something? Or does he want to keep you as a customer, so that’s his way of persuasion… Be cautious with these online sites, ESPECIALLY! When purchasing items. Craigslist has been known to have many unusual characters looking to make a quick buck. If you really feel like It’s a possibility the IPad might be stolen, then it very well might be

EDIT: You ask what should you do, you know inside what to do. Listen to your intuition and believe in what you FEEL!

Well if it lets you into the app store its not stolen from the store, but if your really worried about it being stolen from someone else I would contact the police non emergency and ask them for help just incase so you dont go to jail for it, but they may question you and do a report. That is really sketchy though cause scratching out the back has nothing to do with personal info.

Ruth Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

Ruth asks…

Did I do good in giving her a second chance?

This is kind of long but please help me!
I have been with her almost 11 months. Ill admit I love her like I have never loved anyone else. She means alot to me.

Just recently I had been doubting of her because of her behavior when I asked to see her iPod. I asked her if I could see her iPod an she got so defensive over it saying I would break it (I bought her an Otterbox Case for it that protects it really well and she doesn’t even use it!) if she really cared about her iPod she would have the case on. Anyways, I asked if I could check her messages on phone and iPod (she would do the same to me and I would have to cooperate an hand her my phone).

Anyways, she kept on giving me different excuses as to why I couldn’t go through her stuff. I honestly got so suspicious about he that I was going to break up with her. One day I went to drop off something and well I saw her message. First thing i saw was that she was logged out of the app she uses to text me. She said she didnt know the password so i requested the password and i got it on her email. I logged in. She was talking to this guy who was flirting with her and asking her personal question (like about her virginity). I told her I had to go but that I would check the messages when I got home! So I got home and she had deleted more than half of the messages she had had. I got so mad and I questioned her about what she was hiding from me. She said nothing and I kept on questioning. She ended up crying. I wanted to end the relationship but i gave her another chance and told her that she was no longer going to have any privacy. Not until she had my full trust. I saw the guy who was flirting with her and well I told her,”if you would have cheated on me with that, you would have done a sick downgrade!” She then got sad when I told her that. Was it good way to save my relationship by not givin her privacy? By the way, she didn’t want to end it. She wanted another chance.

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

I’d say relationships are about trust, if you don’t give her privacy she’d feel offended and stuck. The fact that she doesn’t want to end the relationship even though she talks with these guys has three reasons

1. You’re rich
2. She’s immature
3. She is confused and don’t really know what to feel for you.

Answer: it depends on what reasons. I sense she may feel regret, or may use you for money

or 3. She doesn’t really know her self (what she feels)

But the fact that she is so sensitive in you touching the iPad and secret by deleting messages and she; as you claim, don’t want to end the relationship to end is what i wold be believe is of reason number 3 to 2.

Recommendation: Tell her you cant be with her unless you trust each other, you both are not going anywhere good unless you ask her this.

David Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

David asks…

I dropped my ipad 2 on its corner?

i dropped my ipad on the corner which then left a dent. is there any way i can repair or will apple return it and give me a new one

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

Physical damage from drops, toddlers, bath tubs, getting stepped on, and things of that nature *are not* covered under warranty, BUT they may repair it for you (at whatever it costs to do so.), same for broken screens. If you do not have insurance to cover lost, stolen or broken due to damage such as dropping or water damage, any and all replacement and repair cost will come out of pocket. So getting a “free” replacement is NOT going to happen.

That is why GOOD PROTECTIVE cases are a must for devices like this that cost as much as they do and happen to be fragile as well. Otterbox cases come to mind when it comes to protection, vs looks.

If you have not done so, get any and all spendy electronics, added to your home owners or renters insurance policies under whatever riders/umbrella/add-on that you can, to cover replacement due to drops, water or being lost or stolen.

Things get dropped or dropped on, and broken is broken when it comes to screens and dented cases. You spent a lot of money for it, so may as well protect it as well as best you can.

Are protective cases cheap? Well cheaper than the device they are protecting, that is certain, but more than enough to give you peace of mind, at the cost of the case.

Since this is a brand new product out this year you will see all kinds of new designs and cases available for the iPad Mini if you just want to find the cheapest ipad mini cases here is a selection of all of them available now: http://amzn.to/RCOOo6

BUT if you want to get a good quality case that will last and protect your ipad mini then make sure you get the best ones available otterbox and armorbox both have some really tough and durable cases out right now that come with built in kick stands and some cool features check them out here: http://amzn.to/TsLLPx

There are some really nice leather cases for ipad mini to: http://amzn.to/Yryqe5
and some well made designer cases new to market here: http://amzn.to/RCPaLo

The cool thing about the Mini is that it can pretty much fit in the palm of your hand now and is much more portable, it could fit in my back pocket pretty easily even though some smaller women might find trouble sticking in their pockets or pants etc…but either way it is a nice device in comparison to the larger ipad out today.

Susan Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

Susan asks…

Best case for iPad 2?

I’ve had an iPad 2 for a while and I’ve had it in a case that I thought was protective, however I dropped it one time and the bottom corner of dented in. Luckily, the screens okay, but I realized that with the case I have, all of the corners are exposed and a lot of the outer edge as well. I want to get a case that completely covers the iPad 2 and gives it great protection against drops, even though I don’t think I’ll be dropping it again, but I just want to be safe for if it does happen. I’m looking for something thats not more than $60 and has something to close over the screen so the screens not exposed. So my question is, which cases for the iPad 2 can give good protection from drops and bumps that comes within my price range? Otterboxes are out of a question and I really don’t want something that make the iPad 3 times bigger. Thanks for any help you can give!

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

Seriously, get the otterbox. The Ipad already looks clean as it is. The otterbox adds bulk to it, sure, but it feels more protected that way and can deal with the wear and tear or being used everyday.

Let me say this. I’m a girl and i have one of these. I dont care if it looks pretty, I would put titanium armor around the thing if I had to, because it’s not cheap and I would flip every shit if it broke.

Robert Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

Robert asks…

Am I right or wrong for this?

So my mom overreacted and threw my ipad across the room and it landed on the hardwood floor. It had an otterbox defender. I’m the kind of person that takes care of my things. I make sure to never mess up any of my stuff, especially if its expensive. I have this weird thing where now I don’t want the ipad anymore, because I believe it is internally messed up. I lost all respect for it and now don’t want it because I saw it hit the floor with a loud thud. Am I wrong for this?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

Neither.

This sounds like a personal issue that borders your own sentiment and materialism.

If it’s not broken then I would continue to use it however, but that’s just my opinion. Do whatever makes you comfortable, in this society it’s not like it takes that long for our electronics to get replaced by the next thing anyway.

Ruth Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

Ruth asks…

My iPad 2 home button and dock aren’t working anymore?

I rebooted my iPad and when I went to unlock the iPad right after booting it up it wouldn’t work. I tried syncing to iTunes so I could do a backup and restore because I thought that would possibly fix the problem, the iPad didn’t show up in iTunes and showed up as unidentified on my laptop. I tried charging with the adapter and nothing. Gestures and everything else still work perfectly. The only thing I have ever done to the screen that might cause water damage is cleaning the screen with eyeglass cleaner, and I spay it on the other side of the iPad‘s screen to avoid the possibility of getting water in there. I haven’t cleaned the screen in the past two days since I got an otterbox and the iPad has been sitting in the otterbox stand for around a day now. If there’s an ongoing problem someone please tell me, thanks.
I tried holding both the lock and home button and nothing happens. I guess it’s a hardware issue. Should the limited Apple warranty cover this if it’s not my fault? Or can Bestbuy replace it for me?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

If your iPad is charged, and that your laptop’s USB 2.0 port is working fine, push and hold down both your iPad’s Sleep/Wake button and also your Home button for at least 10 seconds. That should bring it back to life.

When I clean my iPad2, I always first spray a cleaner onto my microfiber cloth first, then lightly clean my screen. I never spray direct.

If all else fails, wait a few days with the power off and see if perhaps any moisture evaporates. Then charge your iPad up again and try the above one more time.

Good Luck!

Are you experiencing any first world problems today?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

I first read this while skimming the site on my iPad several hours ago but didn’t answer it because my class was about to start. I’ve thought about it and the quality of my problems this afternoon.
After class I headed back to my dorm room to study and do errands, and then encountered my first “problem” of the day when I couldn’t liberate my brand-new iPhone 4s from the OttterBox Defender case I’d enveloped it in. My trusty iPhone 4 was obliterated during a bike accident on a steep hill near campus a couple of weeks ago, and so I’ve tried to baby the new phone with the hope it will increase its longevity. I needed to remove it from the case because the bulk of the OtterBox prevented it from fitting into my workout armband. I normally don’t run with my phone, but I needed to bring it with me because I was heading to a doctor’s appointment and wanted to have it with me to check emails while in the waiting room. Even though my mom is a doctor, I have such a needle phobia even the Clinque ladies in their white coats can evoke a pinch of anxiety. Jogging helps to alleviate the pre-needle stress. I often get woozy when I have a lot of blood work done, so it was arranged for me to get a ride back to my dorm on a golf cart.

In the meantime, my boyfriend is assisting with a research and outreach team in the slums of India. He doesn’t have a reliable internet connection, but when we’ve chatted he’s had more to say about the surprising level of productivity, loyalty, happiness, ingenuity and optimism in the slums. You can imagine some of the obstacles most of those who live there encounter every day and the difficulties they face in having their basic human needs met. Most of my daily problems are the equivalent of dust that can be swept away, like the ones today. As you know, I do have legitimate problems that are of significant consequence, but as a college student from a financially stable family in an industrialized, capitalist country I’ve been equipped with more armor and tools for facing many of them.

So i would like to know… What happens if the IPAD screen breaks, do they replace it for you?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

Usually Apple mobile devices have a 1 year warranty and a 2 year extended warranty called applecare if you qualify.

It shouldn’t break even though its thin it has a protective layer I think.

However I think it would be so so funny if otterbox makes a case for this. Its got to be a $150 case in this case but well worth because their cases are really really good!

Spots under Otterbox screen?

Yesterday I bough an otterbox defender for my ipad 2 and so far I love it, except for one thing. I already had a screen protector on my iPad and the built in otterbox screen protector on top is no problem and doesn’t inhibit use. However, today when I went to use the iPad, under the otterbox screen were a few dark, dime sized splotches. When I took the otterbox off, they went away, but returned soon after. There wasn’t water or anything on either the iPad or otter box. Can someone give me an explanation for this and a way to prevent this? I love the case, but if this keeps happening, I’ll probably return it.

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

It’s because of the screen protector you have on the iPad. My iPhone does the same…it doesn’t go away unless you remove one or the other. It’s just sticking to the one on the otter box

Donald asks…

Is the iPad 3 Otterbox worth getting?

I’m about to spend some hard earned money from my summer job and buy the new iPad or iPad 3, whatever. It’s alot of money so I want to make sure its protected. Otterbox is usually a good brand of protection but I hear its a waste of $100.
Is it worth it or is there other cases or covers that work just fine? Smart covers? Folios??

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad

OtterBox iPad answers:

Check the Otterbox, Trident, LifeProof and other cases, for drop tests on Youtube and decide for yourself which you want to try.

As for the type of protection the cases give you, what are you looking for? Drop protection or bullet proof protection? Doubt you will be finding a bullet proof case.

Can an iPad 2 cover be used with an iPad 2 Otterbox?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

As far as I know, all Otterbox cases are to be put on the device WITHOUT anything else being on. And you can put the iPad with Otterbox case in something ELSE, like a cover/backpack/laptop case.

But the best thing of course would be to contact Otterbox and ask them, using the options below.

Ruth Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

Ruth asks…

What the good and bad effects of using ipad?

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

Well, this year in my school we are using iPads instead of paper and desktop computers. I got my iPad in preparation for this switch. So far, on a one to ten scale, it’s a 6.

The Good:

It is very ideal for playing games on and watching Netflix or Amazon Instant Video. Whatever you have. The lowest GB iPad they have, I think is 16, which means despite the Apple Update you get occasionally and all the files/apps you can’t delete like Notebook, Gamecenter, Messages, Maps, Reminders, you still have a lot of space for YOUR stuff. Your stuff being movie files, music, pictures, games, and other apps.
The good news is that if you’re an Apple fan, you can’t go wrong with and iPad. The iPad 1 is outdated, but it’s okay if you’re not planning on using it for work or school. I have an iPad 2. It has better graphics and more space and just overall: better. I heard the iPad 3 is pretty much the same as the iPad 2 and it overheats.
Overall, it is fun and you can do a lot of things with it. It comes in handy a lot, too.

The Bad:

If this is your first Apple purchase and you are used to PC and have used PC for a long time, you may not want to get it. It is VERY different from a laptop.
Accessing and using the Internet on the iPad (using Safari) took a while for me to get used to, but it’s okay. I prefer my Dell XPS laptop to look on the Internet over my iPad.

The REAL Bad:

To move your music from your computer to your iPad, you cannot use Windows Explorer, you cannot use copy & paste with the files. You HAVE to download iTunes to interface with the iPad. I did not like this.

ITunes makes it harder for me to take a CD, rip it, and put the songs onto my iPad.

I just don’t like iTunes.

If you leave a lot of apps running all day, the battery runs really low. Fast.

Even if you close out of your apps, they are still open. I found out to get rid of them and actually close them, I have to double click the home button where a panel appears and i can hold and exit out of all my apps.

Another thing that is bad is that if your iPad gets wet, or something goes wrong with the battery, you cannot access it. It isn’t like a phone where you take the battery out and dry the phone in rice. You’d need a pretty big bag of rice and a miracle for an iPad.

If you don’t want your iPad to break in the first week, you need to purchase a case for it. (Good) cases cost from $50 to $90. I recommend the Otterbox Defender Case for iPad.

Don’t let this list of “real bad’ stuff scare you out of getting one. The worst “effect” that could happen is you becoming a couch potato and not going outside because you’re addicted to your iPad. I hope this helps.

Helen Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

Helen asks…

Should I go for the Ipad mini or nexus 7?

I currently have an ipad 2. I love it but I want to trade in for a smaller model because The ipad is very uncomfortable when reading in bed at night. Especially with the OtterBox. Also, I want something that i can fit in any purse I have, not just the big ones. I was thinking about going to the Nexus 7 but am afraid because I am a seasoned ipad user. I would like something less expensive than the ipad mini though. So, heres what is most important to me:
Ereader; I have to be able to upload the epubs i have on my computer to the device. Conversion shouldn’t be a problem.
Surfing capability: i do a lot of surfing and shopping on my ipad. I expect my smaller device to do the same.
App availability: as long as there is words w freinds……. Lol
Battery life: I am okay with bringing my charger around as I have had to do it with my ipad but I dont want to have to have my tablet plugged in every hour or all the time.
Your advice and experience will be greatly appreciated!

- 1Gb Ram (vs 512MB RAM)
- Cheaper

Please help me find a good iPhone 5 case?

I finished my two year contract with my non-smartphone, and I got the iPhone 5 from Verizon! This phone is also under a 2 year contract so I need it to last two years. My last phone lasted 2 years with out a case, but I’ve read that an iPhone won’t. I don’t really know of any good protective cases. I just got a case at Walmart for my iPod touch, but i want something really protective for my phone, that’ll last at least a year. I never take the case off of my electronic devices unless is absolutely necessary. What case should I get? I don’t mind any price below $40 as long as it’ll protect my phone well and last for at least a year.

how safe is Logitech Keyboard Case by ZAGG for iPad 2?

I am looking into getting this but I do not know how well it shall protect my iPad 2. To tell you all the truth I wouldn’t trust any case but I NEED THE PROTECTION! This looked interesting and it was either this or the otterbox for iPad 2

Thanks

OtterBox Ipad Background pic Your Questions About Otterbox Ipad 2

OtterBox iPad answers:

I personally love the Logitech Keyboard Case. The main website states that it is made out of aircraft grade aluminium and a military grade padding in case you drop it. I think it is probably about as safe as it is going to get.
